Skibet Skal Sejle I Nat - Birthe Wilke and Gustav Winckler

Since it's the Eurovision Song Contest this evening I thought I'd treat you to a real oldie. This was Denmarks entry for 1957. The Eurovision Song Contest was held in Frankfurt that year, and the Danish entry was visually one of the most impressive ones that year: to illustrate the content of the song, which is about a sailor who has to say goodbye to a woman he met and fell in love with during a shore leave, Winckler was dressed up as a sailor and Wilke as a woman standing at the harbour wearing a coat with a purse in her hand. Furthermore, a tar vat was brought on stage to create a harbour atmosphere.

A little fun note is that the kiss at the end is the longest in eurovision history. According to some sources the production crew forgot to signal stop so Birthe and Gustav didn't know when to stop kissing. The kiss was also found provocative by some countries.

Hollywood Nocturne - The Brian Setzer Orchestra

This song always makes me think of those old 1940s private-eye movies. Have a relaxing Sunday everyone!
